1- Prayer of reconciliation:
- By starting the prayer of reconciliation, we enter into the real environment of the Holy Mass; we must pay attention and stand in reverence and fear.
- In the first part of the prayer of reconciliation the priest mentions the story of salvation made by the Lord Jesus for mankind. Lord created man who then fell into sin through the envy of Satan, resulting in the death man. Jesus Christ saved us and reconciled us with the Father through the cross.
- This reconciliation is important before approaching the Holy Sacraments.
NOTES:
- The reconciliation prayer is not prayed on Great Thursday as an indication that the true reconciliation will not be accomplished until thecrucifixion of Crist on Friday.
- In the second part of the prayer of reconciliation the priest asks God to fill our hearts with his peace that surpasses our mind.
- At the end of the reconcilition, the priest with the help of the deacon raises the Prospharine to notify us that by the resurrection of the Christ, he reconciled heaven with earth.
- At the same time, the deacon cries out saying "Greet one another with a Holy Kiss" to remind us that we can't take the communion if we are upset with each other.
- At thsis mmoment the congregation sings the hymn "Through the intercessions of the Theotokos saint Mary....." as the church believers in her strong and acceptable intercessions.
