| موضوع: The Liturgical Ritual "Part 1" الثلاثاء يوليو 14, 2009 7:55 pm | |
| Today we will learn what is happening in the liturgy each Sunday:
The day in the church rite, starts from the evening prior to the celebration of the Holy Mass.
Ex: Sunday Mass prepared from Saturday evening.
The Liturgy starts with: Raising of incense ---> Morning incense ---> The Liturgy.
- Raising of Incense: 1- The Vespers (Tasbeha): Start with the Agbia prayers, the ninth, eleventh and the twelfth hour, and then the choir starts the vesper.
It is shorter the Midnight Tasbeha. It begins with a beautiful tune: Ni ethnos teero, which is psalm 117.
2-The Vesper Prayer: Starts with the prayer of thanksgiving. - All our Church Services start with the prayer of Thanksgiving. The priest proceeds to raise incense 3 times around the Alter, while the deacons are chanting the Verses of Cymbals. Then the priest prays the litany for the DEPARTED. After completing the litany, the priest proceeds around the Alter then around the church, raising incense towards the Gospel, icons, and congregation while we are chanting the soxologies. The Doxologies are the glorification of Holy Virgin Mary, the angles, the martys, the saints, and all the various church occasions. The Priest holds the cross together with 3 lit candles in his right hand. He makes the sign of the cross on the congregation on all sides 3 times one in each side saying the prayer of "EFNOTY NAY NAN" (God have mercy upon us). The congregation reply "Amen" 3 times in a very beautiful tune, as the congregation cre for mercy and compassion.
+ Why does Abouna make the sign of the cross in all 4 directions? Because it symbolizes that Jesus Christ enlightened his people who live in all 4 corners of the earth from the darkness of sin through the cross.
3- The Gospel:
4- The Litanies:
+After reading the Gospel, the priest prays 5 litanies. • Peace: Prays for the peace of the church and people. • Fathers: Prays for remembering of the Patriarch, Metropolitans and the Bishops. • Place: Prays for this holy place, the world and city. • Air •Water •Plant • Gatherings: Prays for church's meetings.
5- The Absolution: + The priest says 3 absolutions; * Two inaudibly while facing the east, standing in front of the Alter. * Abouna said the third one audibly facing the west asking for the forgiveness of our sins.
6- The blessing: + At the end of this prayer the priest give the blessing to the congregation.
